The first week of October, 2005, we welcomed a great group of yoga teachers and practitioners to our first Anusara Yoga Immersion, led by experienced and graceful teachers Todd Norian and Ann Greene. Ann and Todd are two of the major teachers of this style of yoga, founded by John Friend. They have become good friends of the Center: here you can visit our first annual immersion -- or revisit fond memories of a lot of sweat and well-earned victories! Some of our immersion friends left us with sweet comments:

The blessings of my week with Todd and Ann in your studio continue to unfold. Wow! What an awesome experience. -KJ

Thank you for making me feel so at home in your studio and your community! Your Immersion was such a gift to me in so many ways. And, they continue to blossom! :) -KJ

...that week we shared was a very special part of my life. You helped me make memories which I will cherish for a long, long time. -MG

Thank you for a glorious week. I approached my practice this morning like a child with a new toy. Such enthusiasm and joy. We've been joyously spoiled. -PM

Todd and Ann will both be back throughout the year for weekend intensives, and (we hope) drop in to visit when their schedule permits.

At the beginning of our week, time to
come to ground after flying through
our busy days. Our gift to ourselves:

one whole week devoted to our health
to our growth and to our Yoga!

The course a perfect mixture of these elements:
the stillness to arrive in and fill the sanctuary,

the words and ideas to instruct and broaden the mind...

...and the practice to reach our bodies further open.

While with grace and great depth of experience,
Todd and Ann brought us insights, refinements
to our technique, and support as we found
postures that allowed us to really bloom..

Some of us took note!

Actually, all of us took note, physically, and knitted
the remarkably freeing nuances of Anusara theory
into every asana

The morning sessions gave us three hours to focus
and open from simpler postures -- let's say more
familiar
, since we improved our position in every
posture we studied -- and gracefully move into
some which were more challenging...

So that, in the afternoon hours we could take on
some which were a lot more challenging
and in equal measure rewarding.

Meanwhile, the best part of finding personal victory
is achieving it with friends, with the help of friends,

or maybe simply letting go into shivassana...!

or sharing it afterwards, in our sun-filled back garden,

After the work of opening, and the work of
balance, the work of thinking... and the play
in doing it all together! -- some excellent,
welcoming rest.

Here our favorite visiting teachers, Todd and Ann,
receive a see-you-soon hug from the Yoga Center's
poster boy and instructor, Nick Van Alstine.

See you soon, Todd, Ann, Nick, and everyone!
