Yoga Sutras and Compassionate Communication


The Yoga Sutras encourage right speech and truthfulness. Buddhism inspires us to be kind and compassionate. The First of Don Miguel Ruiz’s Four Agreements advises us to be impeccable with our words. All of these writings discuss being mindful with our speech / our words and the way in which we use language to express ourselves. The missing link is offering a framework to use as a way for us to be impeccable with our word and use right speech when we are off the mat.

 Compassionate Communication provides a practical application to dialogue that includes the embodiment of the Sutras that Pantanjali wrote about; Satya-Truthfulness, Karuna- Compassion and Ahimsa-Nonviolence. The framework provides you with a way to use compassionate awareness and choose right speech when personal, professional or social conversations become challenging.

Compassionate Communication offers a 4-step process to stay in alignment with the Sutras. Part One teaches the four steps while Part Two provides you with experiential exercises to apply the steps to challenging situations you’ve encountered while creating new strategies meeting the needs of both parties. 

This workshop is for anyone interested in a unique approach to dialogue that promotes connection and curiosity between individuals having different perspectives. Compassionate Communication offers a practical way to express yourself clearly, with greater ease, less stress, and most importantly, increases your ability to listen with calm presence. Note: This class will not be a yoga movement class; it is however, a way to practice the Yoga Sutra of Ahimsa off the mat.

This two day workshop will be held on consecutive Saturdays April 21 & 28 to allow for practice in between.
